I grew up in Warrior, a small town north of Birmingham. After graduating from Auburn University in 2005, my husband Stephen and I moved to Gadsden a year later. I received my M.A. from the University of Alabama in 2008 and then my husband and I became parents. We have a precious two year old daughter, Madison.

To minimize summer learning loss in students, the Alabama State Department of Education developed the 2013 Summer Learning Challenge. This challenge encourages students to read a minimum of 5 - 8 books and to actively engage in math practice every day.
