I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s degree in Educational Technology and am a Microsoft Certified Professional.
My educational philosophy is to teach a variety of technology skills across a range of standards based subjects. I prefer developing those skills in a project setting integrated with the grade level classroom curriculum. I strive to develop skills in my students that are current, challenging, fun, and relevant to their classwork and future studies in education and life.

School-wide Enrichment Program
Greetings from the Creative Thinking Center! My name is Christie Pickard. I’m married to James Pickard. He is the D.A.R.E. Officer at John S. Jones Elementary School in Rainbow City. We have four children. Cody is a working man these days getting ready to enter the Army. Mollie is living away at college and loving it. Justin just finished up his senior year and Michaela is a cheerleader at Glencoe Middle School. I have spent the majority of my teaching career in Villa Rica, GA. My passion has always been teaching gifted students. Teaching Advanced Placement classes in Math and Language Arts at the middle school level and then spending several years as the gifted facilitator for elementary, middle and high school have been some of my greatest adventures. Making sure that students are getting the services they need is, and has been, an important part of my career. I am so looking forward to our time together in the Creative Thinking Center! We are going to have many adventures this year! Please feel free to email me or call me with any questions or concerns. (firstname.lastname@example.org or 256-546-0011)
I have lived most of my life in Gadsden and have been working with students at Eura Brown since August 2007. I received my Master of Communication Disorders Degree in speech-language pathology from Auburn University. War Eagle! Teaching preschoolers and elementary students in the areas of articulation, language, fluency, and voice is what I love. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, making online scrapbooks and spending time with my family. I reside in Gadsden with my husband, Matthew Burttram.

I came to Eura Brown as the special education resource teacher in 2000. My philosophy of education is that all children can learn and should be given the opportunity to succeed. I hold an Educational Specialist Degree in Collaborative Education from JSU. Working with the general education teachers to develop individualized plans for students who face academic challenges is a joy to me. After school hours I enjoy spending time with my two sons, Trent and Hayden.
Hello! I am Karen Abercrombie, Music teacher at Eura Brown Elementary for 25 years and counting. During my tenure in the Gadsden City School System, I have taught both middle and high school choir in addition to elementary general music. I thoroughly enjoy working with young children and have found their love for music unsurpassed by any other age group. While four-part harmony sounds divine, the love of a child singing unison, even slightly off-key, is priceless!
When I’m not at Eura Brown you’ll find me at home in North Gadsden. I’m wife to Donnie, mother to Lauren, Lindy, Molly, Andy, and Sunny, and Gran to Emma and Ella. I’m a Christian and enjoy singing hymns and gospel songs with my family. There’s enough for us to cover all the parts!
I have degrees in Music from Jacksonville State University and the University of Alabama. Go Gamecocks! Roll Tide! I look forward to many more years of Music at Eura Brown. Keep a song in your heart!

Hello! My name is Kellie Crosson. Growing up in Gadsden and attending Eura Brown Elementary school are some of my fondest memories as a student. It is very exciting to be back at the place that ignited my desire to teach! After graduating from Gadsden High School, I began my college years at Jacksonville State University where I received a B.S. in Elementary Education. This is going to be a wonderful year with the enrichment program for Gadsden City Schools. I am so excited to be working with students from across the system!
