Christie Pickard
School-wide Enrichment ProgramGreetings from the Creative Thinking Center! My name is Christie Pickard. I’m married to James Pickard. He is the D.A.R.E. Officer at John S. Jones Elementary School in Rainbow City. We have four children. Cody is a working man these days getting ready to enter the Army. Mollie is living away at college and loving it. Justin just finished up his senior year and Michaela is a cheerleader at Glencoe Middle School. I have spent the majority of my teaching career in Villa Rica, GA. My passion has always been teaching gifted students. Teaching Advanced Placement classes in Math and Language Arts at the middle school level and then spending several years as the gifted facilitator for elementary, middle and high school have been some of my greatest adventures. Making sure that students are getting the services they need is, and has been, an important part of my career. I am so looking forward to our time together in the Creative Thinking Center! We are going to have many adventures this year! Please feel free to email me or call me with any questions or concerns. (cpickard@gcs.k12.al.us or 256-546-0011)

Karen Abercrombie
MusicHello! I am Karen Abercrombie, Music teacher at Eura Brown Elementary for 25 years and counting. During my tenure in the Gadsden City School System, I have taught both middle and high school choir in addition to elementary general music. I thoroughly enjoy working with young children and have found their love for music unsurpassed by any other age group. While four-part harmony sounds divine, the love of a child singing unison, even slightly off-key, is priceless!
When I’m not at Eura Brown you’ll find me at home in North Gadsden. I’m wife to Donnie, mother to Lauren, Lindy, Molly, Andy, and Sunny, and Gran to Emma and Ella. I’m a Christian and enjoy singing hymns and gospel songs with my family. There’s enough for us to cover all the parts!
I have degrees in Music from Jacksonville State University and the University of Alabama. Go Gamecocks! Roll Tide! I look forward to many more years of Music at Eura Brown. Keep a song in your heart!
